Aloha,

I am truly honored to serve as the Health and Safety Chair.

I have been involved at the Local Unit level with Voyager O`hana PTSA at Voyager – a Public Charter School, for the past 3 years as their Treasurer.  Prior to Voyager, through VINS (Volunteers in Northampton) I volunteered with the PTA to staff the School Store at Leeds Elementary School in Leeds, Massachusetts.

Professionally, I am a Doctor of Chiropractic. Prior to relocating to Honolulu I was co-owner of the 2nd largest pediatric and sports injury chiropractic clinic in western Massachusetts.  Due to the birth of my son I developed a passion for working with women during pregnancy to help them achieve their goals of safe and natural childbirth.  Continuing chiropractic care with infants and children to help them recover from birth traumas associated with breech, cesarean, forceps and vacuum deliveries as a vital part of ensuring a healthy childhood.  I have worked extensively with children and adults with ADD, ADHD, learning disabilities, cranial injuries, epilepsy, OCD, sports injuries, and a host of other symptoms.

I have lived in the Makiki area for over four years raising my 10-year-old son as a single parent.

It is my firm belief that the act of volunteering is not an innately instilled value, but one that must be learned.  It is important to me to show my son, by my actions that we must give back to our community no matter where we live, who we are, or how busy our lives may be.

I challenge you to raise your keiki with a strong belief in giving back to your community through your example of being a volunteer.  Our schools, our communities need all the volunteers they can find.  No amount of time is too little.  Get active, be an example for our next generation of Leaders.  You can make a difference!
